The Lyme School has a link for class pages.  It shows an online library, computer lab, encyclopedias, and class links.  Its organizes the links from grades K-8th and separate spots for electives such as language and health.  I decided to look into the PE/Health online class website.  The teachers name is Mrs. Damren.  Her page has a short introduction about herself and about her two classes ( physical education and health education).  She has a link about "whats happening".  It gives a description of what we would do depending on our age and day and lists the amount of town and what topics we would work on.  She also has another page about different assignments.  It lists the homework assignments for the class and the due dates.  Here is the link for her specific link and for the school link. https://sites.google.com/a/lymeschool.org/lymemrsd/ http://www.lymeschool.org/classPages.html I really do believe I will use technology in th...

I think a blog is a very important web 2.0 tool to use.  It allows the class to connect with each other on a site that is monitored by a teacher.  It allows you to publishing different things that you wrote and others can view and comment on it.  Its a great way to get involved with the other students in your class with out just writing on paper.  One tool that I don't feel is very helpful is twitter.  I feel this site has just been taken over by teens as a " fun" social media website and not as an education social media website.  Its very hard for a teacher to monitor exactly what all her students post on this website.  There is also a lot of room to message and view other peoples profiles that they shouldn't be.   One tool I think I will use is Kahn academy.  It a website that helps you review different topics and sub topics.  There are learning activities, games, study guides, the possibilities are endless.  Most of this websit...

Twitter is something that is very popular among high school kids.  Just like any other social media site, twitter is a way to communicate with others and keep up to date on what exactly is happening with certain people.  I personally interact with friends and family through twitter.  It allows me to see whats happen in their life without actually being there with them.  Its very beneficial to me because I am able to communicate with friends I don't live near.  A lot of the time we have family and friends that move through out there life time.  Social media allows you to stay up to date on whats happening with people near you and distant from you. The digital divide describes the gap between people who do and don't have access to internet and computers.  The digital divide affects society majorly.  A student growing up using internet may have more background knowledge on computers and feel more confident in using technology.  This creates a ...

Resource Critique Activity

I decided to research 4th grade work!  I came across standard   LAFS.4.RI.3.7.  This standard is all about interpreting information not presented necessarily in a traditional way.  It shows information in terms of charts, diagrams, interactive videos etc.  We use these tools so we can then compare to our text information and see exactly how it has helped us arrive to our answer.  I chose to study an example of an activity.  Its labeled as c.014 comprehension, expository text structure and text feature find.  The purpose of the activity is almost like a scavenger hunt.  You will need a book and the worksheet.  The worksheet is set up as a chart and has different things it wants you to look for.  You then go into the book and search for each example and then right yes or no in the chart if you found it.  The examples range from bar charts, to table of content, and even a glossary.  Its suppose to help you familiarize yoursel...
