Twitter is something that is very popular among high school kids. Just like any other social media site, twitter is a way to communicate with others and keep up to date on what exactly is happening with certain people. I personally interact with friends and family through twitter. It allows me to see whats happen in their life without actually being there with them. Its very beneficial to me because I am able to communicate with friends I don't live near. A lot of the time we have family and friends that move through out there life time. Social media allows you to stay up to date on whats happening with people near you and distant from you.
The digital divide describes the gap between people who do and don't have access to internet and computers. The digital divide affects society majorly. A student growing up using internet may have more background knowledge on computers and feel more confident in using technology. This creates a problem for students who haven't had internet access because we have to then teach them exactly how to use the internet which could create more stress and problems than necessary. In can affect student success in schools if we don't take the proper amount of time to teach them. Teachers should never punish a student for not having internet access and access to various technology. Instead we should focus on teaching internet access and safety in school. As a teacher you never know the area your gonna teach in or the type of students you will teach so you really need to keep an open mind. You want your students to feel they are in a nonjudgmental zone. Which they should be.
I expect to use the academic software the most. As a teacher you want your students to advance academically and what better way than with academic software. it has examples such as Microsoft, adobe, encyclopedias, even academic games. There are so many opportunities to learn with these different examples. Something I feel I wouldn't use as often is image editing software. Im looking at studies for 2nd graders and with that being said I feel there isn't much use for editing pictures. Yes the occasional drawing and picture websites are appropriate but I can't see a need necessarily for editing pictures of animals or places. I feel it is more important to teach kids in a fun and understanding way which would include educational games and teaching them how to type in documents.
