The Lyme School has a link for class pages.  It shows an online library, computer lab, encyclopedias, and class links.  Its organizes the links from grades K-8th and separate spots for electives such as language and health.  I decided to look into the PE/Health online class website.  The teachers name is Mrs. Damren.  Her page has a short introduction about herself and about her two classes ( physical education and health education).  She has a link about "whats happening".  It gives a description of what we would do depending on our age and day and lists the amount of town and what topics we would work on.  She also has another page about different assignments.  It lists the homework assignments for the class and the due dates.  Here is the link for her specific link and for the school link.

I really do believe I will use technology in the work force.  I feel like it is a great way to stay organized and help keep everything on track.  I think word processing is something I will really use.  It allows things such as document preparation but also has things such as spell check, formatting, grammar checking.  It helps when trying to write papers or make professional documents.  Another technological material is printing.  Since many people require hard copies of documents wether your handing out flyers or giving out worksheets you need a printer.  It allows you to print multiple pages at once and chose different colors.  The last thing is spread sheets.  It allows you to organize your thoughts in one paper.  You can use it to organize names for a money sheet or organize the stock for 2016.  The opportunities are endless.  I really feel that technology will make a huge impact on the work force and really any job.
At the technology sand box I learned about the smart board.  The smart board was a board you can write on with a stylus pen.  It was really cool to see how it write but actually doesn't physically write. It allowed you to pull up different programs and make games and different learning activities for your class.  It also allowed you to change the height of the board so students of any height can reach.  Another piece of technology is the 3d printer.  It allows you to make different objects that can be used for observation or diagrams.  You could print a 3-d version of a brain for anatomy class to learn allow about the brain.  Its a very good option for seeing different objects as appose to just looking at a picture.

Microsoft Word is the go to icon on a computer.  We always use it in school.  Ive used it to write papers, design flyers, randomly doodle and even to make charts and graphs.  Its something that is super useful and easy to use.  Many of the assignments teachers use to give us were designed off of Microsoft.  Sometimes teachers use Microsoft for in class discussions to record all the data from the class.  In elementary school we learned exactly how to use Microsoft and all the things we could use it for.  The possibilities are endless!!  As I've grown up its still been used.  Ive used it to write essays, make resumes and make multiple designs needed for jobs.  I love the fact that we have a program that allows us to do so much. Copyright and fair use of materials is not something most students tend to look up and learn about.  Yes we are taught not to copy other peoples work without proper citation however we never learn about the di...

Technology and teacher professional development

I learnt that there are so many different websites that can help with professional development.  We were able to see websites that were specific to certain grades and some that were open to all grades.  Its amazing to see how many resources teachers, students, and even parents have. By viewing the bookmarks and annotations of others I was able to see all the different website that could be used for professional development.  Things such as linkedin, discovery education, even crayola.  There were a lot of opportunities for help that I may not have noticed if someone didn't comment on or bookmark them!

Technology with Keeks!

Technology and Kiana don't go together.  From 2nd grade typing classes to college level blogging, technology has always been difficult.  What makes it so difficult?  Is it that fact that there's to many components to understand, or the fact that we don't want to take the time to actually learn these components?  I was always the kid who had a question in computer class.  " How do I go back to the other page?".  " How do change my font to the really pretty ones?".  " How do I turn on my computer?". ( All various examples of typical Keeks questions).  Thank heavens I started to pay more attention in computer class because technology has only gotten more advanced.  We use it to write essays, do research, search various problems that keep occurring with our Iphone, even to keep up with the latest Kardashian trends.  Technology surrounds us in so many ways yet most of us don't even know how to use it to the fullest.  Me personally, all I...
