ILP Design

For my ILP I decided to do the digital storytelling.  I was able to make an online storybook with the website called Canva.  Canva allows you to design your own books and gives you access to different fonts, colors and pictures.  For a small fee you are able to access more pictures and other things but the free version was enough for me.  I decided to make a " Christmas alphabet book".  Its a book that has the letters of the alphabet relating to Christmas/winter.  I had so much fun making this book and I feel that it could be very beneficial for elementary classrooms.  It puts a new spin on just regular books and power points.  Here is the link to look at my book. https://www.canva.com/design/DACoFedUWXY/UZoHGw8kNqkM_IEfcg0xZQ/view?utm_content=DACoFedUWXY&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton

I think excel is a great tool for teaching.  Most people think that it can only be used in a business setting but it can be a great tool to organize for teachers also.  My grade of choice would be second grade.  I can use excel to organize grades.  It will allow me to place each student in a spreadsheet with there grades on different assignments and total grade.  This could really help me stay organize.  I could also use it to organize parents information such as phone numbers and emails.  This is a way for me to have a contact sheet right in the palm of my hands.  Another use for excel is a allergy sheet.  Many kids now a days have multiple types of allergies.  This will allow you to see all allergies on one page when giving out snacks or doing different projects. The " Flipped Classroom" is a very interesting and useful concept for students of all ages.  It allows students to watch videos to help prepare them for class the following day.  Class will then be spent answering any questions you may have pertaining to the video.  This allows students to learn not only from the teacher but also another source.  It limits the amount of talking the teacher has to do and allows for more questions to be asked.  It also allows for more classroom time to be used for more productive things.  Its a very cool because teachers have a choice between using videos from an already given site such as khan academy or, make there own videos.  A teacher is able to personalize these videos for his or her teaching them exactly what they want to teach them as appose to them retaining information they don't need to know.  This is also a great thing for students who miss class because it allows them to stay up to date without being th...

Technology and teacher professional development

I learnt that there are so many different websites that can help with professional development.  We were able to see websites that were specific to certain grades and some that were open to all grades.  Its amazing to see how many resources teachers, students, and even parents have. By viewing the bookmarks and annotations of others I was able to see all the different website that could be used for professional development.  Things such as linkedin, discovery education, even crayola.  There were a lot of opportunities for help that I may not have noticed if someone didn't comment on or bookmark them!

Adaptive technologies are used to support learners.  Its helps them be able to learn while overcoming whatever disabilities they may.  Some very interesting technologies for reading are the recorded books, electronic texts, or scan/read systems.  The recorded books provide audio versions of books.  It allows a book to be read to you if you are not able to read the words yourself.  The electronic texts is a text book that is non visual.  The scan/read system allows you to scan any work document and changes it to a digital display.  As you can see there are many different options.  The offer options for reading, writing and so many other things.  They really make learning capable for all students You can use power point to explain many things according to Bloom's Taxonomy.  For create, you can design new pieces of work an produce new work.  For evaluate, you can show the different sides of an argument and see the support for a pro an...

I've had a really good experience with twitter so far!  I have been able to keep up to date on what exactly is happen in the education world.  I see posts from Florida State, The county school district and basically anything I want to see.  Its nice using twitter because you have the optional to follow anyone you want.  For instance, if you are only interested in what's going on in Seminole county public schools ten you can just follow the Seminole county public school twitter.  I've learned that it is super easy to stay in the know when you have a twitter.  It helps you stay up to date on what's going on which is a huge benefit.  So far I've experienced no difficulties.  Its a super easy program to work and understand.
